The President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday, assented to the bill by the Country’s National Assembly to return to the use of the Old National Anthem.

Consequently, this article discusses Seven (7) vital points to note about, the new-old (reverted) National Anthem.

7 Things to Know About The New-old National Anthem

1.It was written in the Year 1959 by Lillian Jean Williams, a British Expatriate who lived in Nigeria.

2. it was composed into music by Frances Berda.

3. It was first Sang at Nigeria’s independence On October 1, 1960.

4.It was once used from 1960 to 1978 before it was abolished by the then military government of General Olusegun Obasanjo.

5. It only lasted for 18 years (1960-1978).

6. After 46 years of relinquishment, it has found it way back as the new National Anthem of Nigeria.

7. It was mainly abolished in 1978 for being written by a British national, without the input of Nigerians. It was felt, it had not enough substance to unite the country after the civil war.
